This site is dedicated to the memory of Kilimanjaro Climb Fund.

In late September I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. This is a mountain of considerable proportions (circa 20,000 feet) and it will take about a week to achieve. Plus it will be uncomfortable (sleeping in tents), I’ll endure extreme temperatures (tropical at the bottom and minus 20 degrees C at the top) and not least of all it will be dangerous. Add to that the fact that it is a really long slog all the way up (and down) and I’m sure you’ll appreciate that it takes a real effort to even sign up for a challenge like this, let alone to do it! I am doing this in memory of my Mother, who I sadly lost last year to cancer. The charity I have chosen to support is “The Breath of Life Fund”. This charity actually supports a particular lung disease which is currently incurable and can affect anyone. Some of you will know that Bill Acton’s wife Lynne, sadly died of this disease last year at a relatively young age. Bill is a personal friend of mine, and MD of MKM Builders Merchants based in Hull. It is a tragedy that someone so young should lose their life and I hope my trek will raise awareness of this terrible illness, and also raise much needed funds, which might one day help to find a cure. I have agreed to pay for the full cost of the trip personally (circa £3k) In return, I am asking for you to donate as much as you feel comfortable. All monies pledged by you go to the charity (NOT part-funding my trip). I’m aiming to raise £10k in total so every donation is important. Thanks in advance for your support. Peter
